Ziska

Ziska was built in Arnside, England in 1903 after the lines of Morecambe Bay Prawners, typical fishing boats in the area. Instead of a workboat, she was finished as a yacht and went on to race extensively in England and Ireland for the first half of the century. She was nearly wrecked in the 70s, and spent 20 years in a yard in England waiting for new life, when 19 year old Ashley Butler found the boat. He liked her lines so much that he traded his boat for Ziska, and began restoring her. After a nearly complete rebuild, he sailed her across the Atlantic and raced on the East Coast and in the Caribbean for many years. She was trucked across the country to Port Townsend in the 2000s, and traded hands several times before being bought by Stanford Siver. He led another major restoration of the vessel between 2017 and 2022. Jeremy Schmich bought the boat this spring and has plans for ocean cruising.
