I found “Silvi” in a backyard in Tacoma in 1973. I refinished her mahogany skin by sanding and revarnishing. I wanted to compete for the record speed run for the “B” Class runabouts held at Lawrence Lake in 1974. I built a mahogany cowling to reduce the wind resistance and drag to help “Silvi” and I achieve maximum speed on the race course. I earned a certificate from APBA officials showing my top speed of 57 mph! What an amazing thrill it was!

I sold “Silvi” and left for the U.S. Navy where I served as an Electricians Mate. Amazingly enough I found her again in Tacoma in 2016, 43 year later, minus her speed cowling!! In retirement I built a Mercury Mark 20 with a quicksilver lower unit and set out for the local lakes again, just for fun this time. As I am a retired electrician, Local Union 76 IBEW, I have no plans to re-enlist so I won’t be selling “Silvi” again!
