Come check out Ellie K at this year’s festival!
Owned by Paul Russell and built by Devlin Designs, it was launched under a full moon in December 2005. This 44-foot Kokanee 38 began with a leap of faith, one significant enough that Paul’s financial advisor fired him when he announced he was going to “Build a Boat.”
Sixteen years ago, Paul and his wife celebrated their engagement and married shortly after the Wooden Boat Festival. Her condition was simple: “That he couldn’t sell his Boat.” They continue to cruise and work on Ellie K together. Nearly 27,000 miles later, Ellie K has traveled through British Columbia, Alaska, Haida Gwaii, the Columbia River, and Puget Sound.
