The Wooden Boat Festival has a funny way of bringing stories full circle.
Wonderland was built and launched in Point Hudson in 1978, just one year before the very first Festival. Decades later, after years of sailing and caring for her, her owners discovered they had been stewarding a little piece of Festival history all along. Her builder was Sam Connor, the founder of the Wooden Boat Festival.
Since then, Wonderland has been transformed into a beautiful gaff-ketch that cruises Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands. Now she’ll return to Point Hudson, where the story first began. Somehow, that feels exactly like the kind of magic this Festival creates.
