A 30-year fascination with the challenges of nesting boat design and many prototypes has led to the PT Eleven. Nesting dinghy design is an intriguing challenge from many perspectives:

Nesting dinghies must be rugged and practical.

When nested, they need to create the smallest possible package.

The interior geometry must fit around the connective bulkheads in a way that allows practical use and nesting.

The structure must attempt to make the boat as strong as it would be if it were not cut in half.

The biggest challenge of all is to make assembly of the two halves easy. Our method allows easy assembly in the water or out, in chop, or in the dark, in about 20 seconds, something we are quite proud of.

Building a boat can be a very satisfying and rewarding experience, one that is increasingly missing in modern times. Since starting PT Watercraft to develop the PT Eleven as a kit for home boat builders, we have asked a lot of our builders, but they get a lot in return. They get the experience, a new set of skills, and in the end, they get a very versatile boat. We are truly grateful that so many people have built this little boat.
