Designed by George Kettenburg in 1946, Ricochet is a Pacific Cruising Class (PCC) offshore racer/cruiser. As such she has endured for over 65 years. Following a catastrophic sinking in 2011 she was thoroughly restored and rebuilt over a period of ten years, mostly by the owner with the help of a few dedicated friends. She was relaunched in January 2023. The work involved the replacement of 52 pairs of steamed white oak frames and floors, complete refastening of the original Honduras mahogany planking with silicon bronze screws, all new deck furniture including hatches, covering boards, toe rails, etc, new standing and running rigging, a new Beta Marine 25 HP diesel engine, all new mechanical, electrical, propane and communication equipment, a substantially new interior. Such gear as wasn’t replaced was restored to original specifications.
Throughout the process of restoration we have tried to keep her true to her original design so far as possible.
