Taku was built in Anacortes in 1947 by Baldy Anderson to a William Garden design. Baldy ferried planes from Boeing to the Soviet Union during WW2. His route took him over the Taku Glacier above Juneau. I picture him on those long journeys thinking about the boat he’d build and name Taku. The boat has gone through many changes over the years. Over the past few years, I’ve focused on the interior and have used yellow cedar whenever it seemed to fit the character of Taku.
