PattyB was the fourth sailboat I have built and the third designed by Sam Devlin, whose work I deeply admire and feel in tune with. Construction required 4,000 hours over 32 months and went relatively smoothly, though I would definitely advise prospective builders to undertake a smaller and simpler boat or two before this one. Though its cabin provides only 50″ sitting headroom, I built it to be as attractive and comfortable as possible, with a level of finish not often seen in such a small boat. The rig has a very generous 301 square feet of sail, making it possible to enjoy decent sailing on those notoriously frequent light-air days of the Puget Sound summer. Not being gonzo sailors, we happily reef early and often.
