I started building Misty B during Covid when my shop seemed like a good place to spend some time. I got the idea while watching Leo Goolden rebuild Tally Ho, both on YouTube and in person about nine miles from my house in Sequim, WA. I started looking for boat plans and came across designs by Glen-L. The boat had to be small enough to fit in my shop, somewhere around eleven feet LOA. I wanted an outboard powered runabout and when I came across Glen-L’s “Squirt”, I was smitten. It had those classic lines of the early Chris Crafts and was beautifully decked with mahogany. I ordered the plans and their book on plywood boat building. For the next two and a half years I learned how to build a boat and got it done the day before the 2023 Wooden Boat Festival, where she was well received. Misty B is great fun to putt around on beautiful Lake Crescent in Olympic National Park, where I try to take her on warm spring, summer and fall days.
