Murrelet is a Honduras mahogany planked, locust framed, copper riveted, modification of the original danish double ender designed for E.B. White by Augie Nielsen. She displaces 3000 pounds and draws 2 ft 8 inches. Her rig was expanded to a sail area displacement ratio of 18 which makes her very fast. She is agile, extremely handy and surprisingly stiff. in heavy breezes. She is sailed very often on Port Townsend bay and highly competitive in the local PHRF races. She won last years under 26 festival race. Constructed of endangered woods, she is named for the endangered Northwest penguin, the Murrelet.
