After a 7 month apprenticeship in the Faroe Islands, builder, Jay Smith returned to the US and built this boat in a small shop in western Pennsylvania. Eastern white pine planking on white pine frames, the local wood. After moving to Anacortes, Washington, the boat was sold and used to ferry its owner to and from Waldron Island. Several years later, Michael Gwost, friend and co-worker of the builder acquired the boat, with the latest restoration work completed this summer.
