After searching for and researching many small cruising designs, I finally settled on John Atkin’s Ninigret. Originally designed as a sport fishing boat, Ninigret has a long history of being both an economical boat and, also, very seaworthy for near shore cruising. But as designed, her inside accommodation is cramped. So, keeping in mind her overall weight, I built her with a raised forward sheer, and extended (and raised) the cabin. This has resulted in a comfortable interior space that easily accommodates a cruising couple.
Anchoring is accomplished by standing inside the cabin and through the forward hatch. This is a safe and comfortable place to work.
Comfortable cruising is further enhanced by the choice of two helm stations: inside the cabin, and outside.
