I designed this kayak for myself. I never built a boat before, so I said how hard can it be.. well it turned out better than I could have a imagined, six months later was done. I wanted something that was beautiful and could show my woodworking skill, but a practical side was also incorporated into the design. I put in contour coping in the bottom for more stability. I made the cockpit opening larger so to get in and out easier. There is an oak wood keel on the bottom as I drag it up on sure a lot this protects the bottom a wood keel.
