I like rowing Otter, but I love the way it sails. It’s quick and adjustable to conditions. It has trekked all over the Salish Sea in a variety of conditions and is probably more capable than its owner has nerve for. Ian Oughtred designed this Ness Yawl and I think he struck a sweet balance between rowing, sailing, with a rig that is simple and efficient. I have a tent set-up that spans between the two masts – great for camping onboard. The hull is fancy marine ply and the seats (fir) and floors (pine) are from 60+ year-old recycled bleachers from Roosevelt High School in Seattle.
