I have always loved wooden boats and got to meet Ray Heater while taking fly-fishing lessons. He encouraged me to build one from a kit and taught me some new woodworking skills.
When asked what I would call the boat, I chose “Fishing with TLC”. These are the initials of my deceased little brother who was my first fishing partner, the boat makes me feel like he is with me when I go out in the boat.
The boat has helped me to meet a lot of people and talk to them about wooden drift boats and building them. I recently got to talk boats with Tom Jackson,a Senior Editor for wooden boat magazine, who recommended that I bring the boat to the show this year. We love to show off the boat and watch people caress the oiled wood trim and eagerly talk to them about the different wood use in it’s construction.
