This year’s Wooden Boat Festival brings together authors whose work has shaped the world of wooden boats and maritime craftsmanship.
Marine systems guru Nigel Calder returns with his famous hands-on workshops on diesel engines and boat electrical systems—offered Thursday and Friday (extra fee, learn more here). Hanneke Boon, co-designer of Wharram catamarans, brings decades of ocean-crossing, boatbuilding, and design experience to share in talks and panels. Allen Cody Taube, author of The Art of Wooden Boat Repair, offers deep insights from his 40+ years as a shipwright, captain, and restoration expert. Internationally renowned woodworker Jim Tolpin—with over a million books sold—will be signing copies and sharing his timeless hand-tool wisdom at the Port Townsend School of Woodworking tent. And don’t miss Jordan Hanssen—author of Rowing into the Sun, adventurer, artist—presenting twice on the Adventure Stage.
Whether you’re into systems, design, repair, or craftsmanship, there’s a master here to learn from.
