TRE

In Festival Boats 2023

Designed in 1938 and built in 1939 as a 14.25m racer/ cruiser in Denmark, PAN 3 appealed to four racing dudes out of San Diego who found her and made an offer that could not be refused and she was shipped off to Southern California in 1960. Legend says the gentleman’s bet was right and BONGO swept up the prized Lipton Cup in 1961. She then was sold to a few pacific mariners making her way to the northwest where her current owner found her twelve years ago and embarked on this epic regeneration of TRE and was involved in every aspect of the work. Naval Architect JIM ANTRIM used her original drawings to guide the current design evolution into vision. Boatright LATHAN SPAULDING crafted the early work including cockpit and benches and magical rings. Spar by CASEY NUTT. Electric Motor built by RB BERNT. Local spar builder BRUCE TIPTON crafted the boom and the beautiful butterfly hatches. YEVGENIY OSSIPOV of Forcola Boatworks LLC designed and fabricated many unique parts of this stunning vessel.
