The Blue Peter is a 96 foot, classic wooden motor yacht built by the Lake Union Dry Dock Company of Seattle Washington in 1928. She is very fortunate to have been owned throughout her life by individuals and families that have kept her original and in good condition. The present owners, the Barbos have “curated” the boat for the last 18 years and have carefully selected the best local talent to operate and maintain her. The most recent yard period included projects to replace or repair all of the yachts electrical and plumbing systems as well as the complete replacement of the original teak decks and the aft-most framing member called the rim-log. Much of the metal-work aboard was sandblasted and painted and all of the woodwork has been repaired, painted, varnished, and in some cases recreated by local professionals. All of this latest work was preformed at the Port of Port Townsend Shipyard by the venerable Haven Boat Works as well as other vendors in the area.
Blue Peter is ready to rejoin the fleet and do her part to represent classic craftsmanship from the past as well as the present day in the premier wooden boat festival of the West Coast.
