BE HAPPY is a 21-foot Tolman Widebody with a pilot house and cuddy cabin. Built from scratch using the instructions provided in the book “Tolman Alaskan Skiffs” by Renn Tolman. Construction took 5 years with some stops and starts. Covid restrictions slowed down the construction when she was in the RiversWest Small Craft Center’s boat shop. In the summer of 2021, another stoppage was when the building that housed the boat shop was deemed unsafe and it took months before BE HAPPY could be extracted.
BE HAPPY is already a veteran of wooden boat shows; she has been shown at the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival, Cathlamet Wooden & Classic Boat Festival and the Port of Toledo Wooden Boat Show. This year she will be again at the Cathlamet Wooden & Classic Boat Festival and the Port of Toledo Wooden Boat Show along with being at the Pacific Northwest Small Boat Festival.
There are several cruises planned for BE HAPPY with the longest being a round trip from Port Orchard to Port Hardy and back through the inside passage in July. There are several smaller cruises planned throughout the year.
