Built in 1926 and originally named “Helen,” Schooner Lavengro is a 2/3rds scale yacht built on the lines of the Biloxi shrimp and oyster schooners of the early 1900s. During WWII she was loaned to the US Coast Guard Station in Biloxi, where she was used for sail training and as a patrol vessel. From the 1950s onward, she changed owners several times, was used for charters in Southeast Alaska in the 1980s and Maui in the 1990s, was donated to the Northwest Schooner Society in 2000, and now is primarily used for educational programs and day sails on Lake Union with the Center for Wooden Boats and Lake Union Charters and Adventures.
