In Festival Boats 2022

1953 33′ Chris Craft Capitan twin engine cruiser. We brought it home on January 1st, 2012, there was quite a bit of snow on the roads so we had to chain up the last 10 miles on the way home. Work-wise we have stripped and refastened the entire hull along with replacing 3 planks due to shrinkage and a grounding in the past. The hull was white house paint when we purchased her but now it is black, an original color from Chris Craft for this style of boat. The original color scheme was the white hull, copper bronze bottom, red boot stripe, and seafoam green saloon top. We repowered her with twin Chris Craft 327 ci, 210hp Crusaders, and Paragon transmissions. The Saloon has been refinished and new upholstery along with new refrigeration, the original stove/oven was still operational and in excellent shape. The main cockpit has been reupholstered and refinished. Chart plotters with radar and sonar were added for safety in the San Juans. Oh and Varnish lots of varnish, but not nearly as much as most of the other boats in the show.
We have taken her up to the San Juans the last 4 years and during one visit to Susha Island, a gentleman in a tender came up and said he knew our boat. He then proceeded to tell me the exact engines that were in it, Palmer 345ci gas motors, and how much anchor chain was aboard. Two very specific items that nobody would know. His best friend was the owner in the ’70s and had her moored at the Queens Island marina, her name at that time was Miss Minnie.
