      Festival Policies for Boats

      1. Accept Liability
Owners of boats shall be solely responsible for the safety of own boat and persons onboard while at festival and solely responsible for any damage that their boat may cause while entering or leaving the festival.

      2. Follow Signage Policy
The Wooden Boat Foundation’s Wooden Boat Festival is the largest event in our region and one of the top wooden boat events in the world. In order to maintain the aesthetic and spirit of the event, commercial "For Sale" signage is not permitted within visible range of cameras photographing the event. “For Sale” signage is not permitted above decks. Websites and other branding signage should be discreet and located below decks. There is an option on the previous page of this form to list your boat for sale in the Festival program for $25.

      3. Comply With Harbormasters’ Instructions
Harbormasters are in charge of all on-the-water activity and placement of all vessels during the Festival. Harbormasters are experienced mariners and have logged thousands of accident-free hours parking Festival boats. They need your help to keep WBF safe and accident free. By submitting this application to participate in the Wooden Boat Festival, you agree to follow the directions of the harbormasters at all times.

Final berthing assignment is made upon vessel arrival. Specific Festival berthing locations are never guaranteed, but the Harbormasters work hard to keep everyone both happy and safe! If you have special requests or require specific accommodations, please let us know as early as possible.

Please note: Harbormasters are festival volunteers. As such, Harbormasters are not personally liable for damage to vessels or persons.

      4. Cancellations
must be in writing (email is acceptable) and received no later than August 2, 2023, to receive a full refund—less a $75 application processing fee. Cancellations received after August 2, 2023, will not be refunded. As a courtesy to boats on the waiting list, please contact us as soon as possible regarding late cancellations so we can fill your space with a similar-size vessel.

    • I will either turn my automatic bilge pump off during the festival, inside the marina, or will allow a short bilge inspection to make sure no oil will be accidentally leaked into harbor,
    • 2023 Release Agreement

I agree that under no circumstances will any claim that I/my child make, direct or indirect, of whatever kind or nature, against the Northwest Maritime Center and Wooden Boat Foundation, its employees, and/or volunteers, and/or affiliated third parties, exceed my/my child's participation fee. I/my child expressly recognize and agree that the Northwest Maritime Center and Wooden Boat Foundation, its employees, and/or volunteers, and/or affiliated third parties, are under no circumstances liable for the conduct of any other parties during or related to a Northwest Maritime Center and Wooden Boat Foundation program. I/my child expressly waive any claims for personal injury, property damage, or otherwise, against the Northwest Maritime Center and Wooden Boat Foundation, its employees, and/or volunteers, and/or affiliated parties, caused by or related in any way to the conduct of other parties.

      2.3 Own Insurance
I/my child understand I/we are strongly advised to procure our own prudent levels of insurance for our property, our children, and ourselves covering program/event participation. I/my child understand and recognize, under the Waiver of Claims and Limitation of Liability above, that I/my child must and will look solely to my/my child's own insurance, if any, for any loss occurring at, or relating to, any Northwest Maritime Center and Wooden Boat Foundation program/event. I/my child understand and agree that the Northwest Maritime Center and Wooden Boat Foundation has no obligation to procure insurance on my/my child's behalf.

      2.4 Indemnification
I/my child understand and agree on behalf of all other related or affiliated parties, including minors, participating with me/my child, that these parties are also subject to the above Waiver of Claims and Limitations of Liability. I expressly consent to this Waiver of Claims and Limitations of Liability on behalf of such parties. I/my child agree to completely indemnify and hold harmless the Northwest Maritime Center and Wooden Boat Foundation, its employees, and/or volunteers, and/or affiliated third parties, from any claim from any third party, minor or otherwise, participating in connection with my/my child's participation in any Northwest Maritime Center and Wooden Boat Foundation program/event or under the authority of myself/my child, except that arising solely from the negligence of the Northwest Maritime Center and Wooden Boat Foundation, to the maximum extent permitted by law. Understanding that damages may be caused to others by or related to my/my child's participation in a Northwest Maritime Center and Wooden Boat Foundation program, I/my child agree to completely indemnify and hold harmless the Northwest Maritime Center and Wooden Boat Foundation, its employees, and/or volunteers, and/or affiliated third parties, from any claim from any third party arising from or related to my/my child's participation, plus all costs, expert fees, and attorneys fees, except that arising solely from the negligence of the Northwest Maritime Center and Wooden Boat Foundation, to the maximum extent permitted by law.

      3. No Modification/Consent by Participation
This Waiver of Claims and Limitations of Liability may not be bypassed or modified by any person without the express written consent of the Board of Directors of the Northwest Maritime Center and Wooden Boat Foundation. This Waiver of Claims and Limitation of Liability affects your rights; State law and/or Federal law may give you other rights.

Note: Participation in any program/event of the Northwest Maritime Center and Wooden Boat Foundation constitutes acceptance of this Waiver of Claims and Limitations of Liability Terms, with or without a confirming signature.

      4. Rules

Failure to abide by these rules may result in suspension or expulsion from the program/event, which will result in forfeiture of tuition/fees and immediate dismissal.

      5. Photo Release
I hereby give permission to the Northwest Maritime Center and Wooden Boat Foundation staff and/or any person acting on their behalf to photograph and video myself/my child and allow the Northwest Maritime Center and Wooden Boat Foundation to use these pictures and videos as it sees fit. I release all publication rights to said photos/videos.

I state that I am of lawful age and legally competent to sign this affirmation and release; that I understand the terms herein are contractual and not a mere recital, and that I have signed this document as my voluntary act and intend to be bound by these terms. I HAVE FULLY INFORMED MYSELF OF THE CONTENT OF THIS AGREEMENT BY READING IT BEFORE I SIGNED IT.

    • The Northwest Maritime Center and Wooden Boat Festival love dogs and recognize that many festival participants can't imagine not bringing their dog along. However, the Wooden Boat Festival cannot allow dogs on the Festival grounds during open hours.

If you do bring your dog with you, your dog's access to the docks and Festival grounds will be limited to early mornings and evenings. Also, you are responsible for your dog at all times, must clean up any dog waste, and afix a Festival wrist band to the dog's collar to signify they’re attending aboard a Festival boat.

Once the Festival opens, we ask that you keep your dog aboard your boat, or, better yet, at one of the many boarding/day-care facilities available in Port Townsend. Two wonderful options are:

Lulu’s B&B for Dogs 360.301.5151 or Creature Comforts Pet Services LLC offers hotel/house calls for dog walking 360.643.1323

We thank you for you understanding and adherence to our Festival dog policy.
