Boat School Students Volunteer on Oars
Students from the Northwest School of Wooden Boat Building (NWSWBB) joined shipwright and boat school graduate Jeff Covert for a day of working on a set of 16 new longboat oars for our Puget Sound Explorers programs. With one set complete, the volunteers are learning to shape a second set, to be completed in time for our 7th grade maritime discovery program. NWMC/WBF Longboat Project manager Jeff Covert is also an instructor at NWSWBB. Thanks in part to his dual role, the students were able to receive independent study credit towards their degrees.
The Boat School recently announced their latest summer programs. Contact Kendra for information or visit their website.
